C# Team Learning. Empty C# Team Learning.

Post by Hugo on Wed Apr 06, 2011 10:19 pm

I am looking for a group of people that are interested in cooperatively learning C#. I want us to get together and make collaborative projects in Visual Studio(having that IDE is a requirement, if you don't have it; just torrent it), and attempt to code random things to achieve random goals.

Facts:

  • I don't know much so don't expect me to be your safety net.
  • This might be a huge failure.
  • There is no plan yet, we'll make one as we go along.

This topic is pretty much just the first step I'm taking to learn C#, and I want to see how many people are willing to learn with me.

I'd be happy to try it out. If you think I'm ready for anything like that. (No idea what C# is or looks like :O)

Ohoho, Sarah taking CompSci? xD. C# is used most often for Windows applications, Sarah, and you likely won't get into it in CompSci until later, and only if you would want to. It's not one of those important languages.

Pfft... C# is soon going to be to C++ what C++ currently is to C.

So much easier on the developer!

Anyways, anyone got any good ideas for a starting project?

I have been getting C# lessons at school for 2 months now, I did not learn that much LOL. Razz

Also starting from Friday I get free lessons in any Microsoft language I want. Once a week on Friday.

I would like to participate in helping, I also got a C# book, its not about how to learn programming, its more of what you can do, and cant and a bit of .NET. Anyways, I would like to be in.

Awesome! We need a goal before we start though.

Okay, a couple ideas I had:

*A utility for controlling fan speed. This idea came from such a program that exists for Macs.
*A program allowing for selective viewing of system specs (sorta like Rainmeter).
*A utility providing random comments (i.e. "Your face looks like a banana.", "Three hours later, you'll still be procrastinating!", etc.) that switch out at a given frequency.
*An application launcher: type in the name of an application, the program looks for it, and press return to open.

stuffz liek dat

Might be too complicated for starters.
*A program allowing for selective viewing of system specs (sorta like Rainmeter).
Not very useful with System
*A utility providing random comments (i.e. "Your face looks like a banana.", "Three hours later, you'll still be procrastinating!", etc.) that switch out at a given frequency.
We could do that
*An application launcher: type in the name of an application, the program looks for it, and press return to open.
Run anyone?

2 player tic tac toe might be doable. But single player vs PC requires some AI :O

Different programs may require different set-up, when I go to school I program C# with ApplicationForm, but when I go to tutoring, I get ConsoleApplication.

There is not much difference in code, only that it isn't always eventhandlerbased. This can be based on other things, (e.g the utility fan would be handier made on Console then Form)

Anyway, for starters that do not know any kind of C# programming and that wants to learn; you can check here.

introduction:

To what C# is and can do for you.

How to work with your IDE and all the handy stuff.(its 2008 version)

Here are some application tutorials:

Anyways, I would have explained a bit more if I wouldn't have to hurry for school now.

You can either code something that will detect what fan you are using or, make a drop down box; choose a option.

This is pretty tricky to do, but its a very nice project to work on.
