Paper Thin (Creative Writing Pieces) Empty Paper Thin (Creative Writing Pieces)

Post by Mollie on Sun Mar 20, 2011 11:48 pm

Hey everyone,
At my school I am in my 2nd year of taking a Creative Writing Class. I have actually worked with the teacher and created the curriculum with her this year for both Creative Writing I and II. Creative Writing II is all about exploration and creating something brand new. We have a total of ten groups, each group containing four pieces, scattered in our groups are a piece called "Poem of Choice."

With my Poem of Choice, I have created a story.
Each Poem is a chapter and I will post them as they are written.
I have only written five, and there is a total of 11.
I will update as I go along.
positive/negative criticism is welcomed. n___n

What is my story about? Read the italics in my signature.

Chapter I - Wandering
Format - Narrative Poem
Spoiler:
Confession of a homeless teen: I can do whatever I want.
I usually wander to find what I could claim,
Seeking whatever could solve the puzzle.
Going at all costs to get whatever it is...

What I can carry, is what I own,
Call it our motto, our slogan if you will.
The most precious thing I know is my name,
I have nothing left to hold onto besides Ava.

My spine chills every step I take,
My shoes were stolen earlier; I took it with a laugh.
Things just come and go, what comes up lands back down.
Through the tunnel I head back to the alley,

Looking through the chain-link fence with a glance,
There a white figure, with bright illuminating eyes.
A deer, that wasn’t lifelike, yet moved faster into the forest.
I cling the fence, the barbs imprinting my skin.

Most of the time I ignore these things,
But I couldn’t just walk away.
Over the fence, got a cut or two,
Didn’t matter, didn’t care.

The sun beams upon me with one step,
And then I just let go.
Matted hair, dirt under nails, faded eyes.
Confession of a homeless teen: I never know what I’m doing.

Chapter II - A Message
Format - 18 Line Rhyming Couplets
Spoiler:
There I go, walking through the forest, all that there is to see.
With the dew on my skin, the wind in my hair, I never felt more free.
Barefoot on the leaves, toes tickle the moss,
With no one in site, no paths to cross.
Why am I here?
Perhaps I might see, that white marble deer.
The one from before?
If I go any farther, I’ll end up among the shore.
I twist and turn, for anything I could see.
A porcelain animal, could it be?
A blink, gone in a flash,
Eyes feel heavy from the weight of my lash.
I’m not one for playing games,
But life is starting to appear as frames.
My chest tightens, My heart feels slow,
Every thought about this chalk-like doe.
I need to keep moving, as my mind begins to twist.
And then, an envelope appears in the mist.

Chapter III - Locked Wrists
Format - Virelay
Spoiler:
Here I am. Once again. On the ground.
Typical. I crash where I walk, where I stand.
As my head weighs to the left, my clenched fist.
The open of my palm, unfolds what I’ve found.

What I now have, all that is in my hand,
Its crinkled, from the grip and the mist.
Fidgeting with fingers, ripping what’s sealed tight.
A possibility, something out of the heartland.

Eyes glued to the sheet, locking my wrist,
Almost illegible, with time fades light.
The sky blackens, and ink begins to mix,
Only for the words to turn and twist.

It’s different being in the woods at night.
There’s nothing, nothing at all to fix.
The silence of the stream, the sky with its crest.
There is nothing to fear, there is nothing in sight.

I wont see light again until past six,
Till then, the paper remains near my chest.
Tomorrow I will see, what words will bring,
But for now, let the forest play its trick.

Chapter IV - Sincerely, Reel
Format - Terza Rima
Spoiler:
Eyes open, with night slept away,
Early morning, sun on my iris, I slowly see.
Lifelike, the forest awoke, sounds stirring along day.

Face buried in my palms, legs shaped like a V,
The note falls into my lap, the envelope alongside it.
I’m only left to wonder, was this meant for me?

Propped up by a tree, I sit.
I scanned my arms, my legs,
Covered by the forest, where the little bugs bit.

Things couldn’t be any better,
I gained an instant smile on my face.
The light couldn’t be lighter, the water couldn’t be wetter.

I took a breath and read like it was some sort of race.
Dear Ava…The deer you saw, you were right.
With my finger, I started to trace the ink.

You must be wondering who, what, or why I write,
As time rolls by, from the cloud to the star,
Eventually you will have to put up a fight.

Even though a beautiful girl you are,
The worst part of life is yet to come,
Follow what I say, and we will go far.

Afterwards, no clue who it is from,
Just a sincerely Sir Reel, is he or any of this real?
The line between real and fake is just numb.

Chapter V - Newfound Emotion
Format - Villanelle
Spoiler:
wanted to look everywhere.
There I go, looking high and low
Little did I know, he was always there.

Down the roads, feet still bare,
So many questions I wanted to know.
I wanted to look everywhere.

I pictured him with such flair.
All I could think was him, not the doe.
Little did I know, he was always there.

Let the world, with its glare,
Let the world put on its show,
I wanted to look everywhere.

To him, I felt beautiful yet rare.
Then again, what do I know?
I wanted to look everywhere.

With the wind, I let down my hair,
He gave me that reason to glow.
I wanted to look everywhere.
Little did I know, he was always there.
